Autumn Reflections
My favorite time of year is autumn. It’s always the time of year I reminisce the most and feel extremely nostalgic. I grew up in the northeast, and autumn in that region is truly spectacular. When I moved to Colorado, I thought I would miss the amazing rainbow-like display of foliage, but there’s something about those golden glowing aspens that make Colorado falls even more special. The first year I was here, I missed the foliage completely, because I either arrived too early or too late for it in the locations I visited. But that’s the beauty of it, being at the right place at the right time. And as fleeting as it is, when you catch it in its peak in one place, it'll be peaking the next week in another place. This year, I hit the aspen jackpot!!!
I’ll be honest, covid had me unmotivated and uninspired. I decided to make myself do a photoshoot with some friends and I really didn’t know what I wanted or was going for, but it turned out to be the inspiration and creative boost I needed, not to mention finding an amazing aspen grove to spend the afternoon in and bask in their golden glow.
I drove over Boreas Pass and while it was a little past peak, it was still magical. Every grove seemed to be in a slightly different stage, offering surprises at every turn.
I love arriving at a campsite in the dark and waking up to a gorgeous surprise. These were taken during a trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park.
As much as I love winter, I’m going to miss that golden glow. I’m grateful for the inspiration it gave me and look forward to the seasons to come.
